16/04/2022  Possibly the last. Think I am in need of a new subject.

To those following this story there was the idea that further inspiration would be found by reading Dante’s Inferno. I have started reading it but so far my reaction has not been such as to  move me to do any drawing – my contemporary outlook at odds with that of 13th.centuty theologists.

Hullo Alan,

Thanks.

Not sure what the "tree entrapped souls" is about. Is that a request  or something I should know about?

If it is an image from 'The Inferno' I haven't got here yet.

Best.

Arthur

PS. Did as ask but think you are too modest.

Yes, the trees are from Dante; but not sure if it's from the Inferno or Purgatorio (only know about it from some of Doré's illustrations for it)

Thanks !

Alan.

This series of devils are brilliant , I love the biro drawing you do .

As for a new drawing subject , Greek mythology is a favourite of mine , or sci fi ..

Hullo Dale,

thanks for the compliment.

I think I am too tender for Greek Gods and heroes most of whom seem to me to be small minded, vindictive and cruel.

Sci-fi on the other hand . . . .

Take care.

Best,

Arthur

Hullo Alan,

I checked and the tree-trapped suicides are from the Inferno. One of the few occasions Dante expresses any pity for the tormented.

Did spend some time planning a drawing of the subject but won't be doing it - who needs more images of people suffering?

Best,

Arthur
