Rok of the Reds is a crowd funded comic illustrated by Dan Cornwall, colours by Abigail Bulmer, and produced by Alan Grant and John Wagner ( each with credits too many to list).  Rok, its titular hero. is an alien hiding out on Earth who becomes enamoured of the game of football. A cross then between Spawn and Roy of the Rovers.

Having been been reviewed with approval and enthusiasm it also has some other things going for it.

In what I take to be a comic book first, the publications fictional football team, Radford Reds, have been given a real sponsorship deal with Laser Tools,  Laser Tools, who are to be congratulated on their original thinking, is a Midlands-based company and sponsors of the BTCC motor racing team Laser Tools Racing and Radford Reds now shown wearing the Laser logo on their shirts.

In addition to this boost to its fortunes Rok of the Reds was also recently shortlisted for Teenage Book of the Year 2020 by the Scottish Book Trust.

Scottish Book Trust is a charity aimed at the young to encourage book readers and writers in Scotland. It gifts books to the public, funds literature events and runs two children's book awards where Scottish schoolchildren choose the winners. More at   https://www.scottishbooktrust.com/

A hugely enjoyable romp.  I’m quite sure my seven year old self would have loved it, and just as much as (almost) fifty year old me does.
